![]() ![]() The last four rails I have bought have been the MI Gen 2 SS. Now that I have gone in another direction, preferring lighter weight and would rather have moveable rail panel sections instead of full fixed rails, the Gen 2 SS has become my favorite by far. But, all my DD rails are quad rails, bought back when I thought a quad rail was the only type of rail that would make me happy. That rail is so much lighter, even the 15 inch which is what all 4 of mine are, than the DD rail that it is no comparison. However, my favorites is the MI Gen 2 SS. But they are pricy and fairly heavy, especially the 14 inch. Tighten up the nut, slap on the forend, line it up and tighten it down. I really like their attachment system on the Lite rail. I love the DD rail and it is one of the nicest rails I have personally used. I have 2 of their rails and am looking to buy a third. I no longer own dd and really have no desire to own anything that's on the market right now over centurion. I do prefer dd's finish compared to the centurion but prefer the overall shape of the centurion. I agree about centurion and did being on the same level. I'm looking at a 15" rail from them to put on my SPR. I'm not really concerned about weight, that's one reason I'm not considering keymod railsĭD and Centurion are on the same level in my book, both make some very nice units. What are the advantages of 12 vs15 inch rail? More rail surface, allows you to extend your arm out further, longer sight radius if using iron sights I'm looking at 12-15 inch railed forends for my first build and have some questions.Īre the DD rails really that much better for the price or will I be happy going the cheaper route? I think they are, however MI and Troy make nice rails for the money. ![]()
